The Scene in the Window

(1 DEC 2011 – A song without sound – a song without music. A song is sung, but the melody is mute.  dht)

CHORUS:
    Another year passes and
the scene in the Window changes.

A Knee is bent and a Ring accepted.

A Veil is lifted and a wedding Kiss is shared.

A Child is born and lies in its Crib.

A Gavel is struck and a Marriage is severed.

A Web appears and Youth's image is lost.

A Tear falls and a Timeless River flows.

A Pen in hand and a Life's Story is written.

A prayer of dust-to-dust and a Journey ends.

AT HOME – IN THE PAGES

(3 NOV 2011 --How many times I've spent in the company of good companions and involved in some great storytelling -- all at my fingertips.  Now, I'm aware that there are electronic sources of stories in DVDs, video, movies, audio, and kindle type media.  Nevertheless, for myself, I prefer the printed words on the paper pages of a book or magazine or newsprint.  There I can so easily lose myself in that 'other world' -- whether in the waiting room at the dentist or standing in line at the DMV.  WHAT 'books' have you read lately that transported you for a time to another place – another space?  dht-2011)

I'm a happy adventurer
and Love to disappear into the nether land
of a well written story in a book –
a book with paper pages that I can turn
and enter with Welcome  --
as an honored visitor to a World Outside my own –
that springs to Life in the printed page –
with characters, plots, intrigue, pathos,
joy, laughter, heartache, heartwarming, and heartfelt cheer.

I'm home – in the Pages of a Book!

THE STORY WITHIN

[Photo Source: Google online images --  Fall with many colors on two sides of a Path with depth.]

(I wrote this on 21 OCT 2011, thinking of someone special and how they changed their attitude from one of condescension to prayer for another.  Hopefully, those of my acquaintance will take the time to 'hear' my Story and hold me in their prayers.  -dht)

Whenever I hear an account about the behavior or actions of another – I usually wonder about what Life circumstances led those individuals to the lives that they lead.

There are so many factors that affect our Lives, that influence our decisions, and that determine our Life's Path.

A quick cursory observation of another's Life Decisions, too often result in an unfortunate and biased opinion.

It is amazing to me that so many of those old sayings hold so much truth - -
"There but for the Grace of God, go I !"  [~unknown]

"Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes."  [~Jack Handey]

"Three quarters of the miseries and misunderstandings in the world would finish, if people were to put on the shoes of their adversaries and understood their points of view."  [~Mahatma Gandhi]

"You never truly know someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes."  [~unknown]

"You have brains in your head.  You have feet in your shoes.  You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.  You're on your own.  And, you know what you know.  You are the one who'll decide where to go.'  [~Dr. Seuss]

It would seem that more compassionate answers would surface, if you were to know the 'whole' of another's situation, and would pause and take the time to wonder and question the motives and actions of others with your Heart.

There is always a Story Within the Story – within the individual – within the situation.  It takes a special person to see "The Story Within".

The rewards of using this kind of introspection are many, but may require one to set aside all their preconceived ideas of propriety, etiquette, commitment, politics, faith, or whatever.  Personal growth and maturation are but some of the rewards for a compassionate Heart and mind.

Learning and understanding The Story Within the Story is an incredible Journey, and one that has precedence in the Biblical Sense – in the miracles of Forgiveness and Love.

So before you venture an opinion about me, try to hear The Story Within the Story of my Life!

THE GREATEST STORY – EVER TOLD

[Photo Source: National Geographic online images]

(14 Feb 2011 -- There is a story behind every action!  A thought behind every deed!  A feeling behind every tear!  A secret behind every smile!  dht)

Whence you began the journey there's no return.

Our path gifted by those long since trespassed.

Whilst the compass can be changed with a new dance.

Our rhythms and mysteries within bestowed to other hearts.

What you pass is the archival link of your yesterday to new tomorrows.

Our life holds hostage the greatest story we'll ever tell.

Where's the greatest woe?  It's in the story untold.

[Dorothy Hazel Tarr]

In this offering: What do you notice about the words?  Their meaning?  Sentence structure?  Pairing of Sentences?  First word, middle, or last words of Sentences?  What words could be substituted?  What connection words added for clarity?  What meaning of your own would you assign to these words, phrases, sentences?

--------------- OR, Why didn't you just say so!  ---------------

Although you cannot change what has gone before, you can rely on the experience of others to assist you in making changes that will alter the direction of your life.  Then, you can pass what you have learned to others, so they can benefit from your life experiences.  The greatest tragedy is when the chain is broken and your life's story is never shared as a gift to the Heart of others.  Just as the words in this photo are being held hostage, so what was learned in your lifetime and the lifetimes that came before you, cannot escape, unless you make the decision to share your life's story.  The greatest tragedy is the story never told.
